Get Involved: Graduate Students

As a graduate or undergraduate health professions student on the Portland Campus, you’ll find ample opportunities for involvement. The Office of Graduate and Professional Student Affairs is your hub for connecting with the campus community through events, service opportunities, student organizations, and more. You’ll meet like-minded peers who are passionate about health care, community service, and getting involved — and also about regular lunchtime bingo or morning exercise classes. 

Keep Moving at Finley Recreation Center

At Finley Rec you can stay fit and centered. Our expansive facilities include a gym, fitness center, group exercise rooms, and locker rooms. Take a class, hit the treadmill, join a pickup game or an intramural team, or borrow some gear and have an adventure off campus. This is your place to stay connected and to stay active.

Graduate Orientation

As a new student in the College of Dental Medicine or Westbrook College of Health Professions, you will participate in a formal orientation program on the Portland Campus, offered at the start of the academic year. This is the time to get your pre-enrollment tasks out of the way, participate in a variety of programs and discussions, and become acquainted with your colleagues, campus culture, the University, and the greater Portland community.

The SWAGÊÓƵ Portland Campus for the Health Sciences

For decades, SWAGÊÓƵ’s Portland Campus has been home to many of the University’s health professions programs including PA, PT, OT, pharmacy, nursing, dental medicine, and more. In 2025, SWAGÊÓƵ’s College of Osteopathic Medicine will move from the Biddeford Campus into the new Harold and Bibby Alfond Center for Health Sciences in Portland. By bringing our health professions programs together into one interprofessional learning community, we will establish SWAGÊÓƵ’s Portland Campus for the Health Sciences as the center of health care education in Northern New England.
