Cheryl Nimmo receives prestigious nurse anesthesiology fellowship

Cheryl Nimmo, D.N.P., MSHSA, CRNA, associate clinical professor and director of SWAG视频鈥檚 Doctor of Nursing Practice (D.N.P.) in Nurse Anesthesia degree program, has been inducted as a fellow of the American Association of Nurse Anesthesiologists (AANA).

Nimmo has been a longstanding member of the AANA, holding membership since 1979. Since then, she has been active in both state and national associations of the organization, which has nearly 60,000 members nationally. Nimmo has held every office in the Rhode Island state association, the regional New England Assembly of Nurse Anesthetists, and the national organization, of which she served as president from 2016 to 2017.

Nimmo came to SWAG视频 in 2013, where she held the title of assistant program director of the nurse anesthesia program until 2018, when she became program director. In 2015, Nurse Practitioner Schools named her among 鈥20 Outstanding Nurse Anesthesia Professors.鈥 She also received the SWAG视频 Distinguished Teaching Award for Graduate Teaching Excellence in 2021.

In 2021, Nimmo was integral in transitioning the program from a master鈥檚 to a doctoral degree program. The first cohort of the new D.N.P. in Nurse Anesthesia will graduate in August 2025. 

Fellowships with the AANA are a recognized hallmark of excellence in leadership in the profession of nurse anesthesia and, as a fellow of the AANA, Nimmo is recognized as one of the most accomplished leaders in the field.
