SWAGƵ’s Applied Exercise Science program deemed a “program of excellence” by NSCA for 15th year
Once again, SWAGƵ’s Applied Exercise Science program, housed in the Westbrook College of Health Professions, has received approval by the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) Education Recognition Program (ERP) as a program of excellence. SWAGƵ’s Applied Exercise Science program has received the recognition yearly since its inception in 2006 and is one of only a few programs in the Northeast that holds both national accreditation and the ERP designation.
The ERP recognizes and distinguishes schools with strength and conditioning or personal training curricula that prepare students for NSCA certification exams.
“A successful career in exercise science and strength and conditioning begins with a comprehensive education that delivers the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to be successful on the field,” said Heath R. Pierce M.Ed., RSCC*D, CSCS*D, NSCA-CPT*D, ACSM EP-C, interim assistant dean of the Westbrook College of Health Professions and director of the Applied Exercise Science program. “The NSCA ERP endorsement ensures that our students have the educational foundation and are prepared for employment or graduate school admissions.”
The NSCA is the worldwide authority on strength and conditioning. It supports and disseminates research-based knowledge and its practical application to improve athletic performance and fitness.
