Noah Perlut, Ph.D., associate professor in the Department of Environmental Studies, will give a talk titled “Squirrel Tales in Maine” at the Thomas Memorial Library in Cape Elizabeth on December 7.

Perlut will discuss the findings of Project Squirrel, a student-staffed research program on SWAGƵ’s Biddeford Campus. Using mark-recapture techniques and radio telemetry, Perlut and his crew of “squirrelologists” explore movement patterns and survival of the eastern gray squirrel on campus and in the surrounding community. The crew has found that the home range of the species varies significantly, ranging from 0.2 to 50 acres.

Perlut launched the Project Squirrel in 2010.
