SWAG视频鈥檚 Jim Cavanaugh co-authors research article on Parkinson Disease rehabilitation
Jim Cavanaugh, PT, Ph.D., associate professor in the SWAG视频 Department of Physical Therapy, recently co-authored a research article pertaining to physical rehabilitation for people with Parkinson disease.
The article, 鈥淎re the average gait speeds during the 10 meter and 6-minute walk tests redundant in Parkinson disease?鈥 appears in the January 2017 issue of Gait & Posture. The research evaluated two commonly used clinical measures of walking often used by physical therapists and identified an overlap in the information they provide, especially when used with people who have more advanced disease. The results contribute to efforts to streamline clinical measures to make the process of patient care more efficient.
The research was published in collaboration with a large group of investigators from Washington University in St. Louis, the University of Indianapolis, Rehabilitation Hospital of the Pacific, the University of Utah, Samford University and Boston University.
