SWAG视频 philosopher David Livingstone Smith gives talk on spectacle lynchings as part of Case Western event on dehumanization
David Livingstone Smith, Ph.D., professor of philosophy, gave a talk at a panel discussion on 鈥淐ombating Dehumanization鈥 at the Inamori Center for Ethics and Excellence at Case Western Reserve University on October 27.
In his talk, titled 鈥淢aking monsters: the uncanny power of dehumanization,鈥 Smith used examples of what are known as 鈥渟pectacle lynchings鈥 鈥 lynchings that drew crowds of thousands of people and at which the victim was tortured before being killed 鈥 to illustrate his theory of dehumanization.
