Five SWAG视频 faculty attend Interprofessional Education Institute in Virginia

A team from SWAG视频 was invited to attend the 2012 Interprofessional Education Institute in Herndon, Virginia.

The Institute was the first to be sponsored by the National Interprofessional Education Collaborative, comprised of representatives from the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy, the American Dental Education Association, the American Association of Colleges of Nursing, the American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine (AACOM), the Association of Medical Colleges and the Association of Schools of Public Health.

The institute was designed to assist health care educational institutions with strategies to develop, implement and improve interprofessional education in their home institutions.

SWAG视频鈥檚 team representatives included (l-r in photo) Shelley Cohen Konrad, Ph.D., associate professor of social work and director of the newly appointed Interprofessional Center for Excellence in Education (ICEE), Karen Pardue, associate dean of the Westbrook College of Health Professions, Lisa Pagnucco, Pharm.D., assistant professor in the College of Pharmacy, Dora Anne Mills, M.D., MPH, vice president for clinical affairs, and David Mokler, Ph.D., professor of pharmacology in the College of Osteopathic Medicine.

Robert A. (Buzz) Kerr, Pharm.D., chair of the Institute鈥檚 Planning Committee and vice president of academic affairs, American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy, welcomed the teams and guided the 3-day Institute. Brenda Zierler, Ph.D., from the University of Washington鈥檚 Institute for Simulation and Interprofessional Studies, and Stephen Shannon, D.O., MPH, president and CEO of AACOM, and former dean of SWAG视频鈥檚 College of Osteopathic Medicine, were some of the speakers who shared their vision of IPE鈥檚 future with Institute attendees.
