Maine Sunday Telegram column lauds 2 members of women's cross country team for 'selfless act of sportsmanship'

Sports writer Steve Solloway published a column in the Nov. 28, 2010 on SWAG视频 student athletes Jess Partlow and Lindsay Forrette, who stopped during the women's ECAC Division III cross country championships at Colt State Park in Bristol, R.I. to assist a competitor who had fallen face down in the dirt on the trail.

"Never mind that Partlow is the team captain and typically the No. 2 or No. 3 runner for a competitive team," Solloway wrote. "She didn't ponder the ramifications of her actions on a race. She thought of a human life." The two women were commended by Rudy Keeling, the ECAC commissioner, who wrote to SWAG视频 Athletic Director Kimberly Allen, explaining that other runners had passed the distressed Salve Regina competitor. "You should be extremely proud of your student-athletes for their selfless act of sportsmanship and for putting the well-being of a fellow competitor above themselves," wrote Keeling.  More on Partlow and Forrette.
