Goals

  1. Provide students with a strong background in the fundamentals of programming, algorithms, and discrete mathematics;
  2. Develop in-demand technical skills that can  lead to career opportunities;
  3. Allow students to engage with internal or external collaborators and to be better prepared to participate in interdisciplinary research initiatives.

Curricular Requirements

A student with a major in another program may minor in Computer Science with the approval of the academic director. A minimum of 18 hours of approved course credit is required.

Students wishing to declare a Computer Science minor should complete a course plan in consultation with a Mathematical Sciences faculty member.

Students may earn a Minor in Computer Science by completing 18 credits in the following:

Learning Outcomes

Students completing the Computer Science minor will:

  1. Apply fundamental principles and methods of Computer Science to a variety of applications;
  2. Apply computational reasoning to a wide range of problems;
  3. Formulate and implement algorithmic solutions to computational problems;
  4. Analyze and compare alternative algorithms;
  5. Manage data and implement database management systems.

Transfer Credit

Courses completed at another accredited college can be transferred to this degree program.  Transferred courses must be reasonably close in scope and content to the required courses offered at SWAG视频 in order to count as exact equivalents. Otherwise, they may transfer as general electives. All courses completed must be no older than five years. Other restrictions apply. See Undergraduate Admissions also.
